Amazon Introduces "Fire Phone"

Amazon.com is the most visited online shopping website in the United States in the recent years. By 2011, Amazon had tens of millions of prime members as customers get to enjoy 2-day free shipping, Kindle owners lending library, and unlimited video streaming! In June 2014, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, introduced its first smartphone called the Fire Phone

As a marketing group, our main goal is to offer Amazon a marketing plan that will help promote its new product and provide strategies that will help the company increase sales.

Our target market will be generation X and Y, specifically college students. We plan to promote our products through TV commercials, social media, and search engine optimization. Our main competitors will be Apple and Samsung. In the marketing plan, we will introduce Fire Phone and its special functions that will set it apart from other smartphones.

Some of its unique features are:

● 3D Dynamic Perspective with 4 front-facing cameras

● Unlimited photo storage (cloud)

● Firefly technology that is able to scan and locate real objects on Amazon

● MayDay (Amazon’s award-winning customer service)

**And much much more!! Stay tuned! :)

  1. I think this product will definitely grab the attention of generation x and y, because we're so much into technology. It will be very beneficial to Amazon users (like myself), but you guys have strong competitors like to new Iphone 6 coming out. I think the 3D / 4 front cameras is very different and interesting, since I haven't seen any other phones with it.

    1. I agree with what you guys are saying about this product being a focal point for the X and Y generations. We are all about technology and innovation and this product definitely satisfies our generations wants and needs. There will be different competitors, but it all comes down to what features a consumer wants in its products and I think that these new additions will help sway consumers' decisions.

  2. I don't think the Fire phone is going to gain much market share at all. I feel like amazon will experience the same thing Microsoft did with the windows phones even though they have a quality product i don't see it selling well. Considering that Apple and Android dominate the market and release a new phone just about every year that people go crazy for the fire phone will defiantly have its hands full breaking in to the market. Also, I do have one problem with the fire phone and that is MayDay it makes me think that the fire phone is going tons of problems.

    Hey Group

    Amazon Introduces “Fire Phone”

The New invitation and that is cool!

Question about fire phone and where the guy is promoting and advertising his design of the phone.
    Location: “Great phone for reading”
Does the phone read the text book for you or it’s just a simple technology does the same functions that others one would do?
Is the Fire Phone against drops and water proved?
If this was your design (group) how much would you guys sell the product?

    Okay

    Jose

  4. Iphone 5s and the Galaxy s5 retail for $199 with a two-year contract (Sprint, Verizon Wireless, or AT&T). Meanwhile, the Fire Phone also sells for the same price: $199 with a two-year AT&T contract. Fire phone differs from other in having unique features. However, Amazon enters smartphone seven years after Apple. So, I think that Amazon should have a lower price to attract costumers.

    1. I feel like if you price the phone lower it will seem like a cheap step brother to the moguls like the Galaxy S5 or the iPhone 5s. I think it is right to be priced here because then its showing the customers that this phone is the same quality if not better than its competitors. Its saying we are the fresh face of the phone industry.

    3. I agree that Fire Phone retail for $199 with a two-year contract is the same price as iPhone 5s and Galaxy s5, but you should know that Fire Phone is an Amazon's first smartphone, so Amazon knows that people might think why they should buy their first smartphone. First, Amazon provides some benefits for buyers, like a full year of Prime, and others. Second, we can't doubt that Amazon Kindle is sold well, so Fire Phone may be sold well. Third, iPhone and Galaxy don't have some Fire Phone's features, like 3D. I believe that the quality of Fire Phone is not worse than iPhone and Galaxy.

  5. For my part, the Fire phone for amazon is not something I would buy. I do not like the idea about the 3D future the phone is offering. Plus, I am happy with my Samsung Galaxy Phone. I think the only way this phone might work if the phone is offer at a lower price than other brand phones.

  6. Although I am not completely sure about this phone, I think it offers many great benefits. The free Amazon Prime, cloud storage, and other unique features are important for this product. I agree with other people that competing with Apple and Samsung will be tough, so promotions must be hit hard in the marketing mix.
